Changla Pass – Leh Ladakh Travel

ChangLa Pass is located between Leh and the Shyok Valley in the Ladakh Range. In the Ladakhi language, “Chang” means “south” and “La” means “pass,” so ChangLa translates to “Pass to the South.” It is also the world’s third-highest mountain pass, and a must-pass route from Leh to Pangong Tso Lake.

Ladakh, due to its geographical location, has numerous high-altitude mountain passes. Driving through these passes offers not only views of snow-capped peaks, moon-like landscapes, and undulating valleys but also adds to the unique experience of traveling on the high-altitude roads of Ladakh.

Currently, it’s peak season on the mountains, and many people stop here for photos. However, it’s recommended not to stay longer than 30 minutes, as the high altitude of 5,360 m can cause headaches. After all, it’s really high up there!
